Found Active Termites? Can Ausinspect Help? So often termite activity is found when least expected, it is common for property owners to lack the necessary funds to carry out a termite treatment in Accord with Australian Standards 3660.2 We can't provide you with a total Do It Yourself Option but we can help reduce the cost of a termite treatment if your property is located in the Sutherland Shire area of Sydney. What options does a property owner have, ideally the property owner will employ a reputable Pest Control company with licensed pest control operator/s to carry out a full termite treatment in Accord with AS-3660.2 . AUSINSPECT provides termite treatments and periodic Inspections, AUSINSPECT welcomes the opportunity to provide a termite treatment proposal. However, only to often the property owner is forced to compromise, as funds are limited - the property owner then employs the lowest quote - however this often proves to be an expensive mistake in the long term, with all due respect to those willing to work with nearly no profit margin, the cost of a proper termite treatment to the Pest Control Company is a substantial amount of money and makes up a large part of the quotation and/or cost to the consumer. Sadly at times the Pest Controller chooses to make his savings by reduced chemical mixing rates and/or poor site preparation, cutting many corners to cover his costs so he will still have some money to feed his family at the end of the day. I would think it is naive to believe that a business can work at or below cost for any prolonged period of time and still stay in business. For most Pest Control businesses, termite control is one of the more profitable sides to their businesses, any discounted work they tend to do will normally be only for long term, regular, bread & butter clients such as shops, strata managers etc'. I believe that if they are willing to discount they either inflated the cost initially, intend to cut corners or will hit you with extras however in some cases a business may need to discount heavily simply to pay employee wages when times are tough. An alternative that is offered by some Pest Control companies is a limited, localised chemical termite treatment, although a lot cheaper to the consumer than a full termite treatment this option is normally a lot more profitable to the pest control company as he has no real liability and has used minimal chemical or materials with only limited preparation work. Sometimes this provides effective control but more often than not the termites are back after some time. AUSINSPECT is willing to discuss these options with you should this be a necessary evil. With all this in mind and your most valuable asset being eaten away by termites, what other options do you have?, this is where I may be able to help. Every Termite Treatment needs thorough Inspections, has a Labour Component and has a Chemical Component. Inspecting for Termites needs an experienced, trained eye with expertise in termite biology and behaviour so this always needs to be carried out by a Qualified & Experienced Pest Manager, the application of pesticides and termiticides needs to be carried out by an appropriately Licenced Pest Control Operator in NSW. The labour content of the termite treatment, preparation works etc', can be readily carried out by the homeowner himself if he is given professional guidance. At a later date the homeowner may also seek to carry out some and/or all of the repair work to the termite damaged building. What I can offer homeowners around the Sutherland Shire that seek to save on the cost of termite chemical treatment due to financial restraint is guidance in preparing the property to be treated as per AS-3660.2, I will inspect the property to determine termite species and entry points etc' where possible, provide guidelines as to preparation works to be carried out by the homeowner, once the site has been prepared properly to my satisfaction, then I will supply and apply termiticides as per chemical label and applicable Australian Standards. In the majority of cases the saving to the property owner can amount to at least a $1000, as it his own property the owner tends to exceed expectations on the detail of preparation works benefiting the final application of chemicals, for example - rarely will a pest controller clean and scarify the sub-floor to look like a beach - however I often find that the home owner is willing to do so. For many homeowners a saving of a $1000+ is well worth a few days work on their home, albeit hard work, I know that if I lacked the expertise in termites and I found myself with active termites in my house I would certainly seek to do as much of the work as possible myself, as I probably could not readily afford the full cost of a proper termite treatment if I were in that position. If you find yourself in a position that you need a termite chemical treatment around the Sutherland Shire area and need to seek alternatives that will provide you with protection against termites, give Stephen Koelewyn a call on 0418 274099. AUSINSPECT provides the added benefit that periodic pest inspections are carried out by an experienced and fully qualified builder, often additional building matters may be raised and discussed at time of inspections. AUSINSPECT can also guide you through the repair process of the termite damage where Pest Control Companies generally lack the necessary building qualification. AUSINSPECT was prompted to provide this service when Stephen Koelewyn had a discussion in Cronulla with a friend of a friend, she was pregnant, they had just bought a house and have now found they have active termites in the house - their predicament is a difficult one - they are young having just spent their last cent on buying a property in Sydney and now termites - they simply can not afford a full termite treatment and have decided to let the house be eaten by termites for a while longer - another year or two. I find it hard as a professional to listen to stories like this and not try to do my bit to help others that may be in similar situations, at least to provide some help, not disregarding the needs of my business and my family. Just seeking to share my expertise to benefit others while retaining some profitability.
