AUSTRALIAN Pre-Purchase Inspections is one of the unfortunate businesses that had been insured with HIH Insurance, although our insurance had previously been underwritten by FAI, the sale last year of FAI to HIH meant that we were underwritten for insurances by HIH.

Recently HIH went into liquidation, we were immediately concerned for our business as it was not clear if our current insurance policies would be honoured in the future, we were advised in writing from our broker that the liquidator had confirmed that our current insurance policies would be honoured although policy renewals would not be accepted until further notice.

On Friday the 23rd March 2001 we were advised by our broker that our insurance may no longer be in effect and that it would be advisable to seek other insurance cover.

We are pleased to inform our clients that we have acted as swiftly as possible and that we have obtained new insurance cover, this enables us to continue and provide our services and protect our clients as well as our business.

Over the coming days we may alter our reports if required by our new insurers, we also need to alter some of the content of our excellent reports that had a number of paragraphs that are protected by copyright belonging to our former insurance broker.

The exposure of our business to the collapse of HIH Insurance has been limited and we believe that due to our prompt actions it will have little effect on our ongoing operations.

Australian Pre-Purchase Inspections sympathises with those persons that have been badly effected by the collapse of such a large insurer and would like to wish those effected all the best in future.
