A comment was sent to me by email recently that the background picture I have posted on the site is not a termites nest but rather that it is a European Wasps nest, the nests of different insects species can often be similar in appearance however in this case the following pictures show the termites nest sub-nest and the surrounding termite damage to the timber structure.

Termite damage of this type may often stay completely concealed within a wall cavity of buildings and only become apparent when wall linings etc' are removed during renovations or repairs.
